U.S. President Trump Fires Admiral Lisa Franchetti

In a stunning move, President Donald Trump has fired Admiral Lisa Franchetti, the first woman to serve as Chief of Naval Operations.

The announcement came just hours after Trump also dismissed General Charles Q. Brown Jr., the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

Franchetti, a highly decorated officer, had commanded warships and carrier strike groups and held key leadership roles across Africa, Europe, and the Mediterranean.

The reason behind her firing remains unclear, but Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has openly criticized military leaders associated with diversity, equity, and inclusion policies.

Franchetti’s dismissal follows the removal of Admiral Linda L. Fagan, another female four-star officer, who was fired just after Trump’s second inauguration.

Trump’s administration has nominated Air Force Lieutenant General Dan Caine, a decorated F-16 pilot, to replace General Brown as part of a broader military leadership shake-up.

With top military officials being replaced, questions arise: Is this a leadership overhaul—or a deeper shift in U.S. military policy?
