The Captain of Submarine USS Georgia was removed from duty due to a “loss of confidence in his ability to command.
– Navy release stated that Captain Geoffry Patterson was fired by Navy Rear Adm. Thomas “T.R.” Buchanan.
– Patterson became the commanding officer of Georgia’s Blue Crew in May 2022.
No reason was given for his termination. However, the release mentioned that failing to perform one’s duty has consequences.
The submarine is now commanded by Christopher Osborn, commanding officer of the vessel’s Gold Crew.
– It is common for Submarines to have two crews that can take turn turns on duty.
