U.S. Navy Confiscates Iranian Weapons Meant for Houthis

U.S. Navy seized a dhow carrying an illegal shipment of Iranian-made Ballistic and Cruise Missile components meant for the Houthis.

This naval operation in international waters off Somalia involved US Navy SEALs from USS Lewis B. Puller, helicopters, and drones.

The same weapons were used by Houthis to target and attack commercial ships in the Red Sea since November 2023.

The small vessel carrying the weapons was deemed unsafe and sunk by the U.S. Navy.

The fate of the vessel’s 14-member crew remains undecided till now.

U.S. criticised Iran for supplying weapons to Houthis in violation of UN Security Resolution 2216 and International Law.

The U.S. has vowed to work with allies to establish freedom and safety of navigation in the Red Sea.
