Iranian IRGCN vessels targeted a US AH-1Z Viper attack helicopter with a laser over the Gulf on September 27.

The incident occurred during the helicopter's routine operations in international airspace at 7:30 p.m. local time.

The US Fifth Fleet issued a statement condemning the "unprofessional" behavior of the IRGCN.

The laser was shone at the helicopter multiple times, but no injuries or impairment to the aircraft were reported.

The targeted helicopter belonged to the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit.

Such behavior puts the US, partner nations, and lives at risk and calls for an immediate halt to such actions.

Despite the incident, the US reaffirmed its commitment to operate in accordance with international law in the region.

The US Navy plans to continue its operations to enhance regional maritime safety and security.
