The U.S. Navy has officially accepted the delivery of the future USS Jack H. Lucas, a powerful warship that will join the fleet.
The ship is named after Marine Corps Private First Class Jack H. Lucas, a Medal of Honor recipient.
The USS Jack H. Lucas is an Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer, equipped with advanced weaponry and technology.
Its cutting-edge systems include the Aegis Combat System, which enables the ship to engage multiple threats simultaneously.
The vessel's construction began in 2018, and it underwent a series of rigorous tests and evaluations to ensure its readiness for service.
With a length of approximately 500 feet and a displacement of over 9,000 tons, the ship is capable of high-speed operations.
The ship's primary mission will be to provide air defense for naval task forces, safeguarding them against airborne threats.
It will also possess the capability to conduct anti-submarine warfare, anti-surface warfare, and strike operations when required.
