Israel Aerospace Industries is developing an autonomous underwater vehicle, the BlueWhale, for gathering intelligence and detecting potential threats.

The unmanned submarine has conducted numerous autonomous and submerged operations and has advanced capabilities.

BlueWhale is a commercialized version of the Caesaron autonomous underwater vehicle developed for Israel's Navy.

The submarine uses radar and electro-optical systems to find targets at sea and in coastal areas.

It has sonar to collect intelligence data and detect other manned and unmanned underwater vehicles, including naval mines.

Data collected by BlueWhale can be transmitted quickly and efficiently to the command centre via a satellite channel.

Its electrical power allows it to operate for up to four weeks, and it can be transported in a 40-foot shipping container.

BlueWhale exemplifies advances in naval defense tech protecting offshore assets, driving development of more advanced submarines worldwide.
