India’s first indigenously built Hydrogen-powered electric ship is expected to be successfully delivered by March–April 2023.

The engineering of the assignment is complete, and the construction is under progress.

42 acres of land have been taken on lease for 30 years, where the ship lift-based shipyard is being built.

The fuel cell will be manufactured by a Pune-based major that relies on Indian technology.

It will be 130 meters long, with a width of about 25 meters, and a weight of about 6,000 tons.

The project would also lead to economic growth, employing at least 3,000 people in the shipyard.

Once the project is commissioned next year, Kochi will be called a ship repair hub.
