In A First, US Army Successfully Tests Precision Strike Missile Against Moving Ship In The Pacific
The US Army tested the Precision Strike Missile (PrSM) against a moving maritime target for the first time during Valiant Shield 2024 in Palau.
The PrSM, launched from the Autonomous Multi-Domain Launcher (AML), showcased its ability to engage moving targets, enhancing joint operational effectiveness.
Developed by Lockheed Martin, the PrSM is set to replace the MGM-140 ATACMS, offering extended range and deep strike capabilities up to over 300 miles.
With the ability to operate in all weather conditions, the PrSM will significantly boost the US military’s long-range precision munitions, surpassing the capabilities of ATACMS.
Future PrSM variants will extend range and improve engagement of moving and hardened targets, with ongoing advancements recognized by the Pentagon.
Anti-ship capabilities are increasingly vital amid global power competition, with PrSM enhancing the US’s ability to counter threats, particularly from China’s advanced missile systems.
