The Navy has accepted delivery of the future USS Augusta (LCS 34) at Austal USA in Mobile, Alabama.

The ship is named in honor of the city of Augusta, Maine.

The delivery marks a significant milestone in the ship's journey and strengthens the connection with Maine's shipbuilding history

The ship completed acceptance trials in March, a crucial step before delivery to the Navy.

The future USS Augusta is scheduled to be commissioned in the fall of 2023.

Once commissioned, the ship will be based in San Diego, California.

This is the second LCS delivered in Fiscal Year 2023, following the USS Marinette (LCS 25).

USS Augusta was a Los Angeles-class fast attack submarine and served for 24 years before decommissioning in 2009.
