The largest sailing yacht with 144m and 3 carbon fibre masts (300ft high) is built by the German Naval Yards shipyard in Kiel for the Russian billionaire Andrey Melnichenko.
At 468ft in length and ship masts nearing 300ft high, the brand new ‘Sailing Yacht A’ (White Pearl) is the world’s biggest sailing yacht.
The yacht has a cruise speed of 18mph, with a top speed of 24mph. The hull is made of steel, with a teak-finish deck.
The vessel is an upgrade to the Russian billionaire’s current multi-million pound ‘Motor Yacht A.
According to reports the boat is powered by a ‘hybrid diesel-electric package with controllable pitch propellers.
Designed by Frenchman Philippe Starck and built by German Naval Yards, Nobiskrug, the yacht can accommodate 20 guests and a crew of 54.
The yacht supposedly costs a staggering $400 million.
