During the press briefing, Toni Yulo-Loyzaga, the Environment Secretary, shared the information with Dolor over a phone call.
The governor on Tuesday mentioned that Yulo-Loyzaga would meet him to discuss analyzed data on the precise location of the sunken tanker. He explained that it might contain some oil that could spread to the shores of nearby municipalities.
MT Princess Empress capsized last 28 February, spilling oil into the waters of Oriental Mindoro. This impacted 34 locally managed marine safeguarded zones in 10 municipalities and almost 36,000 hectares of coral reefs, sea grass, and mangroves.
