Video: New US Navy Submarine To Be Named USS Long Island, Honourinag Long Island’s Legacy

U.S. Navy Secretary Carlos Del Toro announced on Thursday that a new submarine would be named the USS Long Island. The declaration was made during a ceremony held on the deck of the USS Wasp at Pier 88 in Manhattan.

Secretary Del Toro showed his appreciation for the unwavering dedication and valour demonstrated by the residents of Long Island throughout various historical conflicts, including their service alongside George Washington during the founding of their nation and their significant contributions during World War I and World War II.

Del Toro commended the Long Islanders for their unwavering commitment and selflessness.

The construction and commissioning of the USS Long Island is expected to be a lengthy process spanning several years.
