Video: Chinese Vessel Rams, Sinks Vietnamese Fishing Boat
A video clip captured by fishermen near Paracel Islands allegedly shows a large Chinese ship attacking and sinking a much smaller Vietnamese fishing boat.
At around 4pm on 26th May, 2014, Chinese fishing vessels chased a small fleet of Vietnamese fishing vessels, including fishing Chinese vessel number 11209 which collided with Vietnamese fishing boat number DNA 90152.
The incident occurred some 17 nautical miles South West of where Chinese oil rig Haiyang Shiyou 981 deploying their oil drilling rigs and infrastructure. This is the same location as the traditional fishing grounds, under the exclusive economic zone and continental shelf of Vietnam.
Ten fishermen of DNA 90152 were rescued by other Vietnam fishermen nearby.
