Having published Counsel’s advisory opinion on a potential amendment to Australian maritime legislation, Human Rights at Sea has reinforced its independent efforts to enhance seafarer support under its international Maritime Levy Campaign.
New Zealand’s government has updated legislation to allow maritime levies on vessels visiting its ports to help fund seafarer welfare services.
On 6th April, the launch of a charity crowdfunding campaign was carried out to raise funds for developing world seafarers and their families that have been severely impacted by the coronavirus pandemic.
The Mission to Seafarers will present awards to seafarers and operational staff within the maritime industry in recognition of their outstanding contributions to the welfare of others.
