“K” Line has decided to install IP/MPLS solution with LTE communication proposed by NOKIA as Digital Transformation (DX) solution for ships to our LNG-fueled Pure Car Carrier “CENTURY HIGHWAY GREEN”
The vessels will be built at the China Merchants Jinling Shipyard (Nanjing) Co. Ltd for Nippon Yusen Kaisha (NYK Line).
NYK has concluded a ship-building contract with China Merchants Jinling Shipyard (Nanjing) Co. Ltd. for four LNG-fueled PCTCs.
The Siem Aristotle, the second of two ships, is on her maiden voyage from Emden, Germany to North America. The ship’s first bunkering commenced, taking on over 800MT of eco-friendly LNG fuel.
On October 28, NYK took delivery of Sakura Leader, a pure car and truck carrier (PCTC) capable of navigating oceans with only LNG as the ship’s main fuel.
NYK will be able to provide more customers with a low-carbon transportation mode, and the company will continue its efforts to reduce its environmental load and contribute to the realization of a sustainable society.
As reported earlier, UECC, jointly owned by NYK and Wallenius Lines, has signed a contract to construct three new generations PCTC with China Ship Building Trading Co., Ltd and Jiangnan Shipyard Group Co. Ltd.
In December 2018, “K” Line placed an order for a car carrier vessel fueled by LNG with Imabari Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. as a next-generation car carrier vessel with a reduced environmental load.
Since COSCO first specified a water-lubricated propeller shaft arrangement for two 5000-unit PCTC in 2007, more and more shipowners and shipbuilders in China are rejecting oil lubricated propeller shaft and greased rudder bearing systems.
