Together with the Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency, the European Maritime Safety Agency (EMSA) is conducting a large-scale emissions monitoring campaign using remotely piloted aircraft, scheduled to begin later this month.
Bureau Veritas (BV) will contribute its expertise to a consortium that will deliver a Formal Safety Assessment study on Container Ship fires to the European Maritime Safety Agency (EMSA).
According to EMSA, the European Maritime Safety Agency, ship traffic in Europe emits 140 million tonnes of CO2 per year, nearly one fifth of global maritime greenhouse gas emissions.
The report states that in 2018, emissions from the maritime transport sector made up 13.5% of the EU’s total transport greenhouse gas emissions.
A consortium led by ABS, along with CE Delft and Arcsilea is to perform six studies on alternative fuels and decarbonization technologies for the European Maritime Safety Agency (EMSA).
