World’s Largest Sloop Unveiled By Royal Huisman

After launching the biggest ever yacht earlier this year, Royal Huisman has unveiled the world’s largest sloop, designed by Malcolm McKeon.

Jan Timmerman, chief executive of Royal Huisman said, “Two of the world’s 10 largest sailing yachts, Athena and Sea Eagle II, are Royal Huisman builds and Apex 850 would make a fitting third, easily becoming the largest member of this elite circle.”

The radical design of the sloop comprises of an all-glass superstructure and a minimalist aesthetic which is preferred by the creators over the comfort or performance. “The sailing experience of Apex 850 will be sensational, with speeds in excess of wind speed in most conditions,” said McKeon.

He further added, “Her retractable keel, optimised weight distribution and limited heel angle will provide stability, comfort and safety for all on board. Her twin high aspect rudders will provide a rapid response to her fly-by-wire helm.”

There is enough space for accommodating guests onboard. There are 12 rooms in five suites, with 250sqm aft owner’s apartment. The apartment consists of a stateroom private lounge, walk-in wardrobe and ensuite bathroom with sauna. The stateroom leads into the beach club, which can be converted into a theatre. The aft also has swimming pool, gymnasium and socialising area.
