Watch: Greek Authorities Find 46kg Cocaine Inside Hull Of A Ship
A ship with 46kgs cocaine had been arrested by Greek authorities. The cocaine cargo had been hidden behind a water intake grate that had been kept in the hull.
The ship named SKYROS had been on its way to dock near the Corinth Canal. The Marshall Islands-flagged vessel had started its journey from Santarem port of Brazil.
The Hellenic Coast Guard had been tipped off about a suspected cocaine cargo which prompted them to inspect the ship’s hull. Divers from the coast guard had found the cocaine during the inspection on Monday.
This has been recorded and shared by the Coast Guard. In the video footage, the divers had been seen removing a waterproof bag from the ship’s hull. The bag has 38 plastic packages containing 46.7kg of cocaine.
Going forward with the inspection, the coast guard had searched every corner of the ship using sniffer dogs. However, nothing could be found.
For the time being, the crew has been arrested for further questioning. The ship has 23 crew members and all of them have been arrested.
Earlier, 4 tons of cannabis had been seized from industrial cupcake making machines. The incident happened just 4 days ago of this drug bust. The cannabis was found to be from Lebanon which was hidden in 3 machines and was being transported to Slovakia from Piraeus.
However, before it could reach Slovakia on 20th April, the Greek Authorities seized the vessel on 16th April after being tipped off by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).
