USCG Cutters Support Hurricane Irma Relief Efforts

Coast Guard cutters crews have been arriving to support Hurricane Irma Relief efforts in the U.S Virgin Islands, Thursday and Friday.

“Our Coast Guard cutter fleet from Sector San Juan, along with other Coast Guard cutters are supporting Hurricane Irma relief efforts in the U.S. Virgin Islands by providing maritime security, assisting with port assessments, as well as transporting supplies, equipment, Coast Guard teams and other government agency responders to St. John and St. Thomas,” said Capt. Eric King, Sector San Juan commander.

  • Coast Guard Cutter Joseph Tezanos
  • Coast Guard Cutter Valiant
  • Coast Guard Cutter Yellowfin

The cutters Donald Horsley and Joseph Tezanos are 154-foot fast response cutters homeported in San Juan, along with the 87-foot coastal patrol boat Yellowfin.

The cutter Valiant is a multi-mission 210-foot medium-endurance cutter homeported in Naval Station Mayport in Jacksonville, Fla.
