US Navy Receives Its Future Littoral Combat Vessel Dubbed the USS Marinette
The US Navy has reportedly taken the delivery of its unique, future littoral combat vessel, the “USS Marinette,” from Lockheed Martin, the American defence giant.
The delivery follows the successful acceptance trial of the vessel on 22 November, which included demonstrations of the main propulsion, electrical systems, and auxiliaries.
The USS Marinette has proven its advanced operational capabilities, mainly steering, anchor drop, quick reversal, and combat system’s detect-to-engage sequence.
Per the program manager, Andy Gold, the vessel can help ensure that the service can accomplish several maritime security missions.
He is looking forward to the commissioning of Marinette toward the end of 2023 and recognizing the contribution of the ship’s namesake town and the greatest shipbuilders who bring such warships to life.
The combat vessel is reportedly scheduled to be commissioned in 2023 and will soon be homeported to Florida.
Three additional littoral combat vessels for the US Navy are presently under construction.
These include the USS Nantucket, the USS Cleveland, and the USS Beloit.
