Update: Explosion Onboard ‘INS Ranvir’ Might Be Caused By Gas Leak In AC Compartment
The blast onboard INS Ranvir, fourth of the five Rajput-class destroyers built for the Indian Navy, killed three personnel. The accident had resulted in 11 navy members experiencing injuries. The main cause behind the explosion may have been a gas leak in the vessel’s air-conditioning unit.
An official reported that a Board of Inquiry is investigating the incident. It seems that the blast had been a result of a major gas leak inside the air-conditioning compartment.
On the 18th of January, three individuals were killed in a blast in an internal compartment. The deceased are identified as Surinder Kumar (48), Krishan Kumar (47), and A K Singh (38).
There are 11 naval personnel who sustained injuries and are currently being treated at the Naval Hospital. However, the good news is that none are critical.
No significant material damages have so far been reported.
