Tianjin International Shipping Industry Expo 2023 Highlights Growing Chinese Shipping Industry
The Tianjin International Shipping Industry Expo 2023 was conducted in Tianjin Municipality, north China, from Thursday to Saturday to encourage the growth of the global shipping industry and marine economy.
The Tianjin Port is the pinnacle of the Chinese shipping industry, and this sector is distinguished by innovation and enhanced efficiency, which have aided in the buoyancy of global industrial chains and the promotion of economic progress.
Tianjin Port, home to the first smart zero-carbon terminal of the world and a port autonomous driving demonstration area, sustains shipping trade with over 500 ports in about 180 nations and regions, and its cargo and container throughput is among the top 10.
This year’s exhibition attracted more than 3,000 specialists and industry insiders, who exchanged creative ideas and engaged in conversations about emerging trends in various disciplines, including navigation, shipping, port, and the maritime industry.Â
The subject of the expo was shipping across the world, leading the future, with a booth area of 50 thousand square meters. The international shipowners’ zone, smart greener ports zone, and port equipment and machinery zone were among the seven show zones.
As we discuss the probable future of shipping at this important event, we reflect on the remarkable developments that have propelled China to the forefront of the nautical world. The head of Baltic Asia, Jin Yu Cheong, stated via video link.
For nearly three decades, Cheng Weidong served as a trailer driver at Tianjin Port. The port and his profession have evolved significantly over the years, with the addition of instructing AI transportation robots to his responsibilities.
A professional trailer driver delivered a few hundred tons of material each day in the past. Because of intelligent port building, items from across the world can now be transported, loaded, and unloaded considerably more efficiently, according to Cheng.
China COSCO Shipping Corporation Limited (COSCO Shipping), one of the world’s largest shipping corporations, owns about 1,300 vessels with a total shipping capability of 111 million deadweight tons, ranking first worldwide.Â
With a yearly cargo volume of 1.3 billion tons, the firm’s global shipping channels encompass over 1,500 ports in 160 nations and territories.
We have established Piraeus as Europe’s leading container port. The company has made an essential contribution to Greece’s local economy, culture, society, and finance through the efforts of the COSCO Shipping management team, said Yu Zenggang, executive chair of COSCO Shipping Ports Ltd.
According to George Xiradakis, president of the Hellenic Shipping Finance Association, numerous Greek shipowners built their vessels in China, and half of Greek new ships were made in China over the last decade.
According to Liang Feng, the associate professor associated with Nankai University, China has implemented several policies and initiatives to improve import and export logistics, ease cross-border trade, and innovate in the advancement of foreign trade.
