Port Canaveral Is Now Home To The Largest Cruise Ship In The World

After sailing in 2022 out of Europe and Fort Lauderdale, Royal Caribbean declares that its fifth vessel belonging to Oasis class will now call Port Canaveral home for the next two years (at least).

Weighing over 230,000 tons with a capacity of about 7,000 passengers, Wonder of the Seas is now the largest cruise ship in the world.

Joanne Cotterman, the Strategic Account Manager, says that all guests are now welcome – a significant change from when cruising resumed a year back during the pandemic.

The company will receive guests irrespective of whether they are vaccinated or not, Cotterman informed. They have also eliminated guest testing requirements, irrespective of vaccination status.

By doing away with stringent COVID-19 rules and regulations, Cotterman explained that Royal Caribbean is boosting its ticket sales.

A Wonder of the Seas passenger boarding the ship on Sunday shared thoughts on how the cruise industry has navigated the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Gary Emard thinks the industry is trying to keep everyone safe and secure.

After spending seven nights across the Caribbean, the Wonder of the Seas is set to return to Port Canaveral next Sunday morning and depart on another trip next Sunday afternoon.
