NYK Welcomes 30 Students To Its PCTC
On July 25, NYK welcomed 30 elementary-school-aged students selected by lottery to Dione Leader, an NYK-operated pure car & truck carrier (PCTC), as part of the city of Kawasaki’s Marine Month.
Kawasaki City organizes this event to increase interest in maritime trade and shipping by giving children, the city’s future leaders, a chance to experience international logistics. The students boarded Dione Leader and toured the cargo holds, living quarters, bridge, and other areas.
They also listened attentively as NYK’s maritime officers talked about life and work on board. During the question time with the captain, the students asked, “What is the captain’s job?” and “What do you enjoy about being a captain?” among other questions. They seemed to be very curious about the work done on a ship.
NYK will continue to convey the appeal of the shipping industry and vessels to children of the next generation to help them deepen their familiarity with the industry.
