NYK Recognized As Top Company In Port Of Long Beach’s Green Flag Program
NYK has been recognized as one of the top shipping lines in the Green Flag vessel speed reduction program that the Port of Long Beach has been conducting to improve air quality. It was the 10th consecutive recognition for NYK since 2009.
The Green Flag program aims to restrain exhaust emissions from vessels by having them voluntarily operate under 12 knots within 40 miles of port.
In 2018, all NYK-operated vessels that called at Long Beach scored an extraordinary compliance rating of 100 percent, and NYK was praised for its contribution to the exhaust gas cut. NYK Bulk & Projects Carriers Ltd., an NYK Group company, was also recognized for its participation in the Green Flag program in 2018.
The NYK Group will continue to participate in programs preventing air pollution around the port of Long Beach and contributing to preservation of the environment.
