MOL Chemical Tankers forges One of the World’s Largest Multi-Segregated Chemical Tanker Fleets
MOL Chemical Tankers, a subsidiary of Japan’s Mitsui O.S.K Lines (MOL), has successfully acquired all shares in the Singapore-based Fairfield Chemical Carriers from Fairfield-Maxwell in the U.S.
The acquisition, valued at USD 400 million, shows MOL’s strategy to expand its chemical tanker business and meet the growing demand in the sector, as outlined in its management plan called BLUE ACTION 2035.
This acquisition, based on a share transfer agreement signed in 2023, has received a positive response from the concerned authorities under the law, MOL stated.
MOLCT CEO Akira Sasa said that from March 1, 2024, Fairfield Chemical Carriers (FCC) had become a part of the group. With its integration, the business base of the MOLCT Group has expanded, and it can provide more services to its customers.
MOL Tankers is set to integrate its fleet of 81 multi-segregated chemical tankers with stainless steel tanks with the 36 vessels from the Fairfield Chemical Carriers.
This union has created one of the biggest fleets in the world, specialising in multi-segregated chemical tankers with stainless steel tanks.
