Miray Cruises To Offer Earthquake Relief In Turkey
Miray Cruises is all set to join relief efforts in Turkey following a major earthquake that struck the central and southern regions of the nation earlier this month.
Per the cruise line, the Gemini will be docked in the Port of Iskenderun until mid-March to extend relief housing for about 1,056 individuals. With mostly families onboard, Miray is set to provide meals and 24-hour medical services for people on the vessel.
The firm will also conduct special programs and activities for the children onboard. A spokesperson informed Cruise Industry News. Additional vessels could be provided if need be, the cruise line mentioned.
Acquired in 2020 by Miray, the Gemini is set to offer a summer program starting on 19 March in the Eastern Mediterranean.
Sailing from Greece and Turkey, the 1992-built cruise vessel will sail three- and four-day cruises to the Greek Islands, featuring popular ports of call like Rhodes, Santorini, Mykonos, etc.
The program extends through late September and includes departures from the ports of Cesme and Piraeus.
Initially operated by Crown Cruise Line, the Union Navale de Levante shipyard built the Gemini in Spain.
Considered the giant vessel ever constructed in the European country at the time, the 20,000-ton ship boasts a capacity for 1,074 individuals at double occupancy.
Before being a part of Miray, the Gemini spent time cruising for Celestyal Cruises, Cunard, Happy Cruises, Star Cruises, Quail Cruises, Vision Cruceros, and so on.
The ship has also been a floating for two Olympic Games – the 1992 Summer Olympics, held in Barcelona, and the 2012 Summer Olympics in London.
