Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd., JERA Co., Ltd., Toyota Tsusho Corporation, and Nippon Yusen Kaisha (hereinafter “4 companies”) promote LNG fuel supply business in the Chubu region through Central LNG Shipping Co., Ltd. and Central LNG Marine Fuel Co., Ltd.
For doing this, a vessel for supplying liquefied natural gas (hereinafter “LNG”) fuel for vessels, which is under construction at Central LNG Shipping Co., Ltd. We are pleased to inform you that the LNG bunkering ship has been launched.
In the future, the ship will be completed as the first LNG bunkering ship to operate in Japan at the end of September 2020, after undergoing the process of mounting various types of equipment such as an engine. After the start of business, we will engage in the ship-to-ship LNG fuel supply business for ships in the Chubu region based on the Kawagoe Thermal Power Plant of JERA Co., Ltd.
The four companies will continue to utilize their know-how and strengths to establish an LNG fuel supply system in the Chubu region and promote the conversion of ship fuel to LNG, thereby contributing to the reduction of environmental impact.
