Innovative Series of New Travel Apps for Cruise Industry Launched

Inchcape Shipping Services (ISS) the world’s leading maritime services provider, has launched an innovative series of travel apps for the cruise industry in Greece, covering the major ports and islands of Mykonos, Santorini, Kefalonia, Corfu and Syros. Further apps will also follow to cover the entire region.

Originated by ISS Greece, one of the leading cruise specialists, the free new travel apps will provide a complete digital guide through the islands and ports of Greece, from attractions and activities, dining, and shopping to transport information and a currency convertor, all with images and contact information. With a click of button, immediate local medical information can also be found, if users need to find a doctor or hospital shoreside.

Users will also be able to use the embedded GPS in smartphones to guide them right to the doorstep of whichever attraction or location they wish to visit ashore. Once downloaded, the app can be used offline eliminating 3G roaming charges while abroad, or accessed through various Wi-Fi spots in Greece.

The ISS travel apps have been developed for both IOS and Android devices, providing access to approximately 90% of all mobile users. Says Dimitris Marselos, Manager, Passenger Services for ISS Greece: “Our new travel apps offer many possibilities for our cruise Principal companies, enabling them to easily reach guests who prefer to use a mobile device to provide them with their local travel information.

“Shoreside, the apps should prove very useful to guests, offering them local information at the click of a button so they can maximise how they want to use their time off ship, while the GPS functionality will ensure they never get lost during their trip. They can even create their own personal photo memories using the app.”

Users can download the new ISS travel apps by going to their respective stores (Apple iStore, Google Play store etc.) and entering ISS (and the port e.g. Mykonos, Santorini etc).

Alternatively, they can use the below QR Code that is Universal (both Apple & Android) with a QR code reader application.
