Inmarsat Maritime Unveils NexusWave, Revolutionising Maritime Communications
Inmarsat Maritime, a Viasat firm, has launched NexusWave, a managed connectivity service underpinned by a bonded multidimensional network.
It offers a unified multidimensional network, delivering high-speed service, unlimited data, and global coverage at sea through a single provider.
NexusWave is a fully managed service that effortlessly integrates several high-speed networks in real-time—Global Xpress Ka-band, coastal LTE service (as available), and low-Earth orbit services—with an extra layer of L-band for increased resiliency and fast, always-on connectivity.
The solution further extends enterprise-grade firewall security trusted by international enterprises and governments.
The NexusWave will integrate the next-gen ultra-high-capacity and high-speed ViaSat-3 Ka-band service following the expected entry into service in 2025.
As a unified solution, NexusWave helps maintain optimum managed performance levels irrespective of the vessel’s location or requirements while offering 100% transparency on the total cost of ownership—with no unforeseen charges.
Designed to offer a unique experience in line with evolving customer demands, the new service extensively supports digitalisation and crew welfare missions by transforming vessels into floating homes and offices.
Ben Palmer OBE, the President of Inmarsat Maritime, elaborated that maritime operators encounter the ever-evolving need for data consumption and speeds on board their vessels, coupled with operational challenges of connecting worldwide while ensuring the security and efficiency of their communications.
Meeting all requirements relies on multiple and disjointed solutions, resulting in a complex patchwork of speeds, data caps, and coverage, as well as unverifiable cyber security.
In an era when reliable communications provide a competitive edge, maritime operators seek a value proposition customised to their needs and rooted in high performance, targeted outcomes, and certainty.
This is where NexusWave helps fulfil the demands and even more.
Indeed, a game changer in maritime communication, the new solution offers customers the confidence to operate on their terms, anywhere in the world, with total peace of mind.
Supported worldwide and managed by Inmarsat, NexusWave boasts top-tier technical aid and guidance from decades of experience.
The solution will be continuously enhanced over time, aligning with Inmarsat’s commitment to excellence.
Ben Palmer concluded that last year’s combination with Viasat brought together top-notch talent and innovation capabilities, along with the network assets of both businesses, creating a synergy that was integral to the development of NexusWave.
Through this, they’re going to ensure connected confidence for customers in the future.
