An Indian cargo ship from Mandavi has been hijacked with 11 crew members onboard when it was on its way from Dubai to Yemen’s Al Mukala port.
EU Naval Force can confirm that an Indian registered cargo dhow was seized by suspected pirates on 01 April and is now in the vicinity of Hobyo, Somalia.
The captain of the ship had informed the authorities in Dubai about the incident.
An EU Naval Force maritime patrol aircraft has confirmed the exact location of the dhow and has attempted to establish radio communications but without success.
Another incident of the kind happened last month, when an oil tanker Aris 13 was seized by pirates at anchorage off the north coast of Puntland.
Investigations and operations are ongoing.
