Yemen’s Houthi rebels have attacked three vessels in the Arabian and Red Seas, according to statements issued by the group’s military spokesperson, Yahya Saree, on Wednesday.

According to Saree’s televised speech, the first incident involved the use of missiles and drones to target two vessels in the Red Sea, the Roza and the Vantage Dream.

Furthermore, the US vessel Maersk Seletar was targeted in the Arabian Sea with a bombardment of drones, according to Saree.

Ambrey, a British Security Agency, stated that around the same time, a Greek-owned bulk carrier was attacked by the Houthi group while sailing northbound in the Red Sea.

The carrier’s transmissions ended roughly 118 nautical miles east of Massawa, Eritrea, while en route from Mormugao, India, to Suez, Egypt.

Although Ambrey’s statement did not name the targeted vessel, it did remark that the incident appeared to be consistent with the Houthi group’s objectives.

In an official Telegram announcement, the Houthi group claimed that its operations were carried out precisely and that it had successfully hit its intended targets.

The Houthis have also issued a warning, urging all foreign companies and ships to stay out of the Red Sea and the Arabian Sea to avoid becoming targets themselves.

The Houthi group stated that these strikes were carried out in solidarity with the Palestinian people, particularly in response to the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict.

They claimed that the assaults were in response to perceived injustice against those displaced in Rafah and were part of a bigger strategy to extend their operations into a fourth phase.

The group concluded by reaffirming their commitment to support the Palestinian cause until their objectives are achieved, which include the cessation of aggression, the victory and the lifting of the Gaza Strip blockade.

As tensions in the region rise, targeted attacks on ships increase concerns about the safety of maritime routes and the possibility of further conflict.

The international community is keenly monitoring developments as efforts to de-escalate the situation and ensure maritime traffic security continue.
