Hamas Calls US’ Move to Deploy Ships Near Israel As Aggression Against Palestinians
The US has stated that it will send military vessels and aircraft closer to Israel to show support following Saturday’s attack by Hamas. The latter has referred to this move as aggression against Palestinians.
On Sunday, Lloyd Austin, the US Defense Secretary, said that Washington would boost military aid and offer munitions to Israel.
Austin said that he had directed the movement of the Gerald R Ford Carrier Strike Group to the Eastern Mediterranean.
Joe Biden, the US President, also informed Israel’s PM Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday that more assistance for Israel’s army was on the way.
Hamas declared on Saturday the start of a new military operation titled the “Al-Aqsa Flood” against Israel.
Hamas further stressed its unforeseen offensive by air, land, and sea was in response to the desecration of the compound of the Al-Aqsa Mosque as well as Israel’s atrocities against the Palestinians over decades.
Per the Israeli Health Ministry, nearly 700 Israelis have already been killed, and 2,382 were wounded in the maddening attack since Saturday. Of them, 22 are in a critical state, and 345 are injured, the ministry mentioned in a statement cited by local media.
The Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip said that at least 436 individuals have lost their lives. That includes 78 children, and over 2,270 were wounded.
