France To Send Over 10 Tonnes Of Medical Supplies & 2nd Hospital Ship To Gaza
France will deploy more medical supplies and a second hospital vessel to Gaza and is prepared to receive injured children who require emergency care, according to President Emmanuel Macron’s office in a statement issued on Sunday.
The UN has called for a humanitarian truce in Gaza, calling the civilian death toll “staggering and unacceptable.”
France will deploy an aeroplane carrying more than ten tons of medical supplies early this week and contribute to EU medical relief flights on November 23 and 30.
According to the Elysée presidential palace, France is additionally building a second hospital vessel, the helicopter carrier Dixmude, which is scheduled to dock in Egypt in the coming days.
The Tonnerre, a French helicopter carrier with approximately 60 beds and two operating blocs, has already been launched in the region.
France would also use civil and military aircraft to transfer wounded or ill children from Gaza, according to the statement.
Macron stated on social media that up to 50 youngsters could be transferred to France for treatment at French hospitals “if useful and necessary.” Sick babies were also evacuated.
The statement came after World Health Organization medics visited the Al-Shifa hospital, Gaza’s largest. The vast majority of those killed on both sides were civilians.
