Fincantieri announced that the delivery ceremony of the first of the two MPCS or Multipurpose Combat Ship/PPA, KRI BRAWIJAYA-320, to the Indonesian Navy was held on July 2, 2025, at the company’s shipyard in Muggiano, La Spezia.
The event was attended by Biagio Mazzotta, Chairman of Fincantieri, Admiral Muhammad Ali, Chief of the Indonesian Navy, H.E. Prof. DR. Junimart Girsang, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Indonesia to the Republic of Italy, Admiral Enrico Credendino, Chief of the Italian Navy, and Admiral Giacinto Ottaviani, National Armaments Director.
The vessel was constructed and delivered by the shipbuilding company in a short period, and along with its sister ship KRI PRABU SILIWANGI-321, highlights a key milestone in the cementing of a strong relationship between Fincantieri and the Indonesian Navy.
The ships represent the biggest combat vessels in the Indonesian Navy and will strengthen its capacities in the Indo-Pacific region and also aid in safeguarding the country’s maritime interests.
The MPCS/PPA is quite a versatile ship class which was designed to perform an array of missions such as frontline combat operations, patrols, rescue operations and civil protection.
It can also operate high-speed boats like Rigid Hull Inflatable Boat through a lateral crane or a hauling tramp placed at the stern.
The ships of this class have an LOA of 143 m and a speed of over 31 knots. They can function with 171 personnel and are equipped with a diesel and gas turbine propulsion plant and an electric propulsion system.
