The European Union (EU) Naval mission safeguarding ships navigating the Red Sea has revealed that its frigate, Psara, successfully damaged two unmanned aerial vehicles in the Gulf of Aden on July 7, 2024.

The action is part of the Aspides mission that commenced in February to counter drone and missile strikes by Iranian-aligned Houthi terrorists.

The Houthis have described these strikes as an act of solidarity with Palestinians amid the ongoing conflict in Gaza.

In a series of related incidents, US Centcom forces destroyed two Iranian-backed Houthi UAVs successfully in Houthi-controlled areas of Yemen on July 7.

Additionally, US forces intercepted and destroyed two Iranian-backed Houthi Unmanned Surface vehicles (USVs) in the Red Sea and a Houthi radar facility in Yemen on July 4.

The operations continued on July 3, with US forces destroying two Houthi radar sites and two USVs in the Red Sea.

These actions were taken to mitigate risks to US, coalition forces, and merchant vessels, ensuring security and freedom of navigation in these strategically vital waters.
