East Port Said Is Witnessing The First Green Methanol Ship Supply Service In The Middle East
The General Authority for the Suez Canal Economic Zone announced the success of the first operation supplying a container ship with green fuel “methanol” in the port of East Port Said, yesterday evening, as the supply service took nearly 6 hours; The operation was the first of its kind in Egypt, Africa and the Middle East, as part of the Egyptian state’s strategy to regain its role in providing services to supply ships with both conventional and green fuel, thus maximizing the use of its seaports on the Red and Mediterranean Bahrain.
The authority revealed, in a press release, today, Friday, the implementation of the container ship supply service for the shipping line Maersak, which was received two days ago in the port of East Port Said, and it is the first container ship in the world that operates with green fuel, as it is supplied by the ship Lara S of the service provider OCI Global working in the field of supplying ships with green fuel, and the largest producer of methanol fuel globally, where the container ship is supplied with 500 tons of green methanol at the Suez Canal Container Station, the main operator of the port of East Port Said, and this amount is for the supply of the ship It is the highest compared to supplying green methanol to the ship at its former stations in Korea and Singapore on its journey from Asia to Europe through East Port Said, Egypt.
