Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (CEO Lee Seong-Geun) has developed an artificial intelligent hot processing robot’Goknuri’ that can produce high-quality products even with low-skilled people using standardized big data and artificial intelligence technology while improving the working environment and applied it to the field It was revealed on the 20th.
The newly developed robot’Goknuri’ contributes to maintaining high quality by standardizing work contents while storing and utilizing the know-how and performance of existing workers as data. In addition, the accumulated data can be used for the construction of other ships using artificial intelligence technology in the future.
In addition, it is possible to dramatically improve the working environment of workers who have been exposed to noise and musculoskeletal diseases. Robot operation can be used even by unskilled personnel for work through simple training for 2-3 days.
Ships have complex curved surfaces at the front and rear of the hull to improve navigation performance. In order to make a solid steel plate with a maximum thickness of 70mm into a curved surface, cold working and hot working processes are performed.
In cold working, the steel plate is made into a curved surface using a compression roller or press at room temperature, and in hot working, the steel plate is heated to a high temperature of about 800°C and then cooled rapidly.
Hot-working requires little force to produce curved surfaces compared to cold working, but it is difficult to uniformly heat the steel plate, so there is a difficulty in having to rely mainly on the experience of a skilled high-tech person in order to maintain steady quality. In particular, this job has been regarded as one of the representative jobs requiring improvement of the working environment due to the high physical burden, such as having to work in a fixed posture for a long time in high temperature and high noise environment.
The company started to develop this robot system three years ago, and after an internal demonstration in September, it is actually being applied to the processing plant in the Okpo Shipyard.
