DIA Confirms Houthis Use Of Iranian Missile And UAVs For Attacks In Middle East

JOINT BASE ANACOSTIA-BOLLING — the analysis has confirmed that the Houthis have employed several Iranian-origin missiles as well as unmanned aerial vehicles against civilian and military targets all through the region, per an unclassified report released by the Defense Intelligence Agency.

“Iran: Enabling Houthi Attacks Across the Middle East” offers a thorough comparative analysis of publicly available photographs of Iranian UAVs and missiles to those employed and displayed by Houthis in Yemen to launch their attacks on commercial shipping in the waters of the Red Sea and civilian as well as port infrastructure across the area.

The report emphasizes how the Houthis’ and Iran’s relationship is growing and strengthening. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps-Quds Force (abbreviated the IRGC-QF) of Iran has been giving the Houthis increasingly advanced weaponry and training since 2014.

With Iran’s support, the Houthis have been able to launch a campaign of missiles and unmanned aerial vehicle strikes against Red Sea commercial vessels since November 2023, thereby endangering international trade and freedom of navigation in one of the most essential waterways in the world.

To improve public awareness of the Defense Intelligence Agency’s function and to offer views on matters about the Department of Defense and national security, the Defense Intelligence Agency (the DIA) has made the report available. The report’s information is regarded as current as of 17 January.
