Death Toll From Migrant Shipwreck Off The Coast Of Tunisia Rises To 9
The death toll has risen to 9 after a fatal shipwreck involving four immigrants boats off the southeastern coast of Tunisia on Wednesday, the Tunisian National Guard reported Saturday.
As of now, 63 people have been saved from the tragedy. However, the exact number of missing people remains unknown. On Thursday, four bodies were found by Tunisian coast guards. As it stands in the central Mediterranean, Tunisia is a frequent point for illegal immigration to Europe.
Although the government is taking extreme action to address this issue, attempts at illegal immigration from Tunisia to Italy continue to grow in frequency.
