CSL’s MV Nukumi Secures The Title: Bulk Ship Of 2022
Canada Steamship Lines (CSL), The CSL Group’s division, is delighted to announce that the latest self-unloading newbuild vessel dubbed the MV Nukumi, was titled Bulk Ship of 2022 last Monday at the prestigious International Bulk Journal Awards in Rotterdam.
Presented to 2022’s most extraordinary bulk vessel or newly built vessel, the award recognizes innovations built into the design of MV Nukumi for enhancing safety, efficiency, and performance and lowering the vessel’s environmental footprint.
The CEO and CSL President Louis Martel said he was honoured to accept the award on behalf of the new-build teams who tailor-made and built a great vessel to service Windsor Salt customers.
IBJ’s acknowledgement underscores CSL’s current commitment to offering customers the most advanced, sustainable, and safe bulk shipping solutions.
The 26,000 DWT vessel, MV Nukumi, is the first-ever diesel-electric Laker and the first single-point loader to operate in Canada. The ship also features a next-gen hull design, quieter machinery, a shuttle boom, and a single-point of loading system.
CSL’s partner EMS-Tech Inc. was recognized by the IBJ, receiving the award for Best Ship Loading or Unloading System for contributing to the successful delivery of MV Nukumi’s self-unloading and self-loading systems.
