Container Vessel And Aframax Tanker Collided In The Malacca Strait

Aframax tanker named ZEPHYR I reportedly collided with another container ship named GSL GRANIA at about 0430 LT on 27 September in the Malacca Strait between Malacca City and Singapore somewhere midway. It is understood that the container vessel and the tanker were sailing in the same eastern direction.

Tanker struck the container vessel’s stern, vessels sustained extensive damages, both vessels were anchored following a collision and as of 2250, the LT stayed anchored. The tanker was loaded with bitumen and was on its way to China, container vessel was sailing to Tanjung Pelepas from Savannah, at around September 27.
