China’s 1st Domestically-Built Cruise Ship Adora Magic City Completes 100 Voyages

China’s indigenously manufactured cruise ship, the Adora Magic City, marked its 100th journey in Shanghai on Monday.

More than 350,000 domestic and international passengers have been catered to by the ship since it began operations in 2024. This was possible thanks to its unique cultural tourism model, which also incorporates cultural elements like folk music, local operas and tea culture.

Adora Magic City ended its trip at 6 a.m. and docked at the Shanghai Wusongkou International Cruise Terminal.

A little boy said that the ship had amazing slides, gardens and swimming pools when asked about what impressed him.

Another female passenger also expressed her contentment with the trip and said she hoped to bring her parents onboard the ship.

Shanghai’s Maritime and Border Inspection Authorities introduced a customised management program for the safe and efficient operations of the Adora Magic City.

Sheng Jinghao, a maritime inspector at the Baoshan Maritime Safety Administration, said that tools like the electronic patrols, the Vessel traffic services system and the smart maritime platform offer safety and weather information to the cruise ship crossing the water under their administration, making sure its passage is safe and smooth.

Qiao Yingsong, customs officer at Pujiang Border Inspection Station, said that they implemented several measures to streamline the customs clearance process. He also said that they use a cruise control system to speed up inspection and decrease passenger waiting time.

The Adora Magic City is evidence of Beijing’s growing cruise industry expertise. It was constructed with contributions from more than 1000 manufacturers from around the world, a symbol of innovation and international cooperation.
