Cargo Ship Loses Power And Runs Aground Near Lighthouse Off Cornwall, Rescue Underway
A cargo vessel unexpectedly lost its power off the Cornwall coast. A rescue mission is underway. RNLI lifeboats and coastguard helicopters are part of the emergency response mission that started after the Mazarine cargo vessel lost power while sailing from southern Ireland to its present position between the Isles of Scilly and Cornwall.
Two RNLI lifeboats have been seen next to the boat close to Wolf Rock. A spokesperson associated with the Maritime and Coastguard Agency said that the HM Coastguard has been coordinating the response after a cargo ship situated off the Isles of Scilly reported that it lost power close to the Wolf Rock lighthouse, per CornwallLive.
The crew members on board are uninjured. A tug has also been sent for assistance. Besides, a coastguard helicopter has been dispatched along with Sennen Cove RNLI and Penlee lifeboats in case the crew members need to be evacuated. Another helicopter is on standby in case needed.
