Cargo Ship Carrying Wheat Catches Fire At Karachi Port
On Wednesday (19th January 2022), a fire broke out on a foreign cargo vessel at the Port of Karachi. Bol News reported that the vessel had come from Russia and was carrying wheat.
Karachi Port Trust or KPT said that the fire brigade had brought the fire in its control and managed to dowse it soon.
No death has so far been reported per KPT sources. They added that the fire was not severe. The Bol News highlighted that KPT declared an emergency at the port to prevent untoward situations.
The Port of Karachi is one of the largest and busiest seaports in South Asia. It handles 60% of the country’s cargo.
