Per search and rescue (SAR) officials, 17 seafarers have been rescued from a vehicle carrier sinking off Indonesia.
The master of Serasi I initially informed SAR agencies that he was looking to ground the vessel but was compelled to order an evacuation soon enough.
Following that, 17 crew members took to life rafts. Later, they were picked up by another passing vessel and brought back to the Tanjung Kalian Muntok port.
In addition, a rescue operation was soon started with the standby unit of Muntok SAR, the navy, the national SAR agency Basarnas, and the police.
The accident was blamed on poor weather, and it is still unclear how much cargo was on board.
