Capesize Bulk Carrier Collides With A Fishing Vessel Off Shanghai; 11 Go Missing

Capesize bulk carrier dubbed CAPE BRILLIANCE reportedly collided with a 37-meter-long Chinese fishing vessel about 42 nm E of the Yangtze estuary. The time of the collision was 1830 LT on 31 October.

The fishing vessel eventually sank. Three of the 14 fishermen on board were rescued, and 11 went missing. SAR is underway, while CAPE BRILLIANCE was reportedly anchored for end-to-end investigation. The bulk carrier is reportedly ballasting from Shanghai’s Taicang to Australia’s Point Samson.
