Australia received support from 146 of the 165 member states present, putting us in equal first place with Germany.

This strong election result demonstrates Australia’s status as a significant maritime nation, including as the largest bulk exporter in the world.

Australia’s re-election ensures our interests will continue to be represented at the highest levels of international maritime policy-making.

It also means international ships transiting our pristine waters are safe, clean and operating under the highest international standards.
