Vopak Horizon Fujairah Completes First Bio-Bunker Fuel Supply In UAE

Vopak Horizon Fujairah has successfully completed the UAE’s first-ever bio-bunker fuel supply operation, marking a new era for maritime fuel.

The operation delivered B24 bunker fuel—a blend of 24% Fatty Acid Methyl Ester (FAME) and Very Low Sulfur Fuel Oil (VLSFO)—designed to cut emissions and make shipping cleaner.

Certified by the International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC), this biofuel meets the highest environmental standards and supports IMO 2020 sulfur cap regulations.

Biofuels like FAME are transforming the industry by reducing sulfur oxides and greenhouse gas emissions. Maritime giants are now blending biofuels with conventional fuels for a greener future.

Vopak is leading the charge! With 32 ISCC-certified terminals worldwide, it is making sustainable fuels like biofuels and sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) more accessible.

Strategically located, Fujairah is the world’s third-largest bunkering port, providing a crucial refueling hub for vessels traveling through major global trade routes.

With this groundbreaking step, Vopak is ensuring a cleaner, more sustainable future for global shipping. Is bio-bunker fuel the key to net-zero emissions at sea?
