MV Dali Ship Departs Baltimore 3-Months After Francis Scott Key Bridge Collapse

On March 26, the ship MV Dali lost power and tragically collided with the Francis Scott Key Bridge, killing six construction workers and halting operations.

The ship's crew of 21, faced months of confinement. Eight crew members have returned home, but eleven remain in the US for ongoing investigations.

The NTSB’s investigation uncovered issues with the ship’s electrical system, pointing to circuit breaker failures and a control circuit interruption as potential causes of the blackout.

MV Dali is now on its way to Norfolk, Virginia, where it will offload 1,500 cargo containers at Virginia International Gateway before undergoing major repairs.

While the NTSB investigates the technical aspects, the FBI has launched a criminal investigation, underscoring the broader impact on maritime safety and port operations.

Local and state officials are working to restore normal port operations and plan to replace the Francis Scott Key Bridge by 2028.

As the MV Dali undergoes repairs, ongoing investigations aim to determine fault and prevent future incidents, highlighting the importance of maritime safety improvements.
